5 DIY Halloween Costumes

October 19, 2014

Hi Loves!

Today marks the beginning of my first "13 Nights of Halloween" series!
I am a HUGE fan of Halloween, so I'm going to create 13 posts consisting of costume ideas, make-up & hair tutorials, DIY projects, and a few extra tid-bits, in anticipation of Halloween.

Enjoy the first post of the series below!

"When witches go riding, and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween."

October 31st falls on a Friday this year (Woo Hoo!) so many of us will either be at school or work during the day, but that is no excuse not to be in Halloween spirit and dress up! Even if it's not an over the top costume.

I've put together 5 DIY costumes ideas with items that you probably have in your closet already.

5 DIY Halloween Costumes
1. Cowgirl
Personally, I have all of these items in my closet, as I'm sure many others do as well. All you need is a plaid button-up shirt, jean shorts, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat.
FUN FACT: I got my boots for $10 at a thrift store 2 years ago and I love them because they were already worn in and distressed.
2. Wenda (Waldo's Girlfriend)
This is a super easy and quirky costume to put together because it only takes a beanie, eyeglasses, oxfords, skinny jeans, and a sweater. Since it's fall, this is the perfect costume to stay warm.
3. Ballerina
So cute and girly! I paired a long sleeve bodysuit, tights, a tulle skirt, and ballerina slippers. If  thought a full tutu would be too over the top but if you prefer to use one, feel free,
4. Hippie
This one's for all my Boho Chic ladies. Throw on a shift dress with a vest, fringe boots, and tie a head band across your forehead to complete the costume. Oh, and don't forget to use lots of 70's phrases and your peace sign.
5. Referee
This is my favorite costume because it's so comfy. A vertical striped shirt, leggings, high knee socks, a cap, and converse sneakers are you're good to go. Throw in a whistle too, if you'd like.
